Hi, I’m Valerie Nelson. I work as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator currently based in Rhode Island, with projects spanning throughout North America.
In the recent past, I worked as the Lead Graphic Designer at Todd Oldham Studio, helping create sustainable kids’ craft brands like Kid Made Modern, Smarts & Crafts, and Making with MoMA. While at the studio, we’ve collaborated with clients like Phaidon Press, the MoMA, and Target.
In 2022, I opened up Snailerie.co, a slow-and-steady creativity brand & stationery shop. I release collections every season or so, and share that progress on instagram.
For the past 7 years, I’ve worked in the realms of kid’s toys and craft kits, book publishing, interactive design, animation, and web based branding.
I consistently care about issues regarding accessibility, education, sustainability, and the arts within the many projects I work on. Additionally, where applicable, I always aim to make sure there’s an element of childlike expression and joy throughout my work.
